Investing in our
Community
The Painesville City Local School District is currently producing its best results ever on the state report card. This includes its highest graduation rate, its highest high school proficiency rates, and its best overall rating.
However, this positive momentum is at serious risk due to unprecedented cuts in state funding.
Supporting our Students
Why Our Schools Need Your Vote
While the district will have already made over $3M in cuts by the end of this school year, it will still face an annual operating deficit of that same amount or more. That's why, for the first time in 14 years, we’re turning to the community for support with new funding.
On Tuesday, May 5, the community will be asked to vote on a 1.25% income tax levy. This applies only to earned income and not to pensions, investment savings, Social Security, or other retirement income. This levy would cost about $37 per month for households earning the median income for Painesville City ($35,175 in 2025).
This ask is not about adding any “extras” — it is necessary to protect the programs and services we already offer, so that our students and community do not lose the ground they have gained.
